Last night, LSU completed one of the most remarkable seasons ever...and confirmed they are the best team in college football - especially offensively. They are National Champions after dominating 42-25 against Clemson who had previously won 29 straight games.
Once again, Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Joe Burrow led the LSU offense to outrageous numbers, throwing for 463 yards and five touchdowns and rushing for 58 yards and a score. By the end of the game, Burrow broke more records and compiled extra stats that made his total numbers for the season eye-popping.
The LSU offense was stacked with talent and skilled players, but their coaches equipped them to maximize their abilities and gifts. What this team accomplished and the numbers they put up is even more impressive when you compare them to what LSU did last season.
LSU went from averaging 32.4 points per game in 2018 to an incredible 48.9 this season. They averaged over 400 yards passing per game in 2019 vs. 228.5 in 2018. Joe Burrow went from being a game manager last season (only throwing 16 touchdowns) to breaking the record for passing touchdowns in a season with 60.
A big reason for the change was the addition of 30-year-old assistant coach, Joe Brady, who joined LSU after coaching with the New Orleans Saints. He came in to help revamp the passing game which ended up totally transforming the offense into one of the best we’ve ever seen. The overall system they implemented and the game plan they followed each week led to this successful 15-0 season.
As I think about the LSU offense thriving all season, scoring in abundance, and trusting in the changes the coaches made to their offense, I’m reminded of what God does in our lives.
When we allow Him to take over and trust Him to equip us and maximize our abilities and gifts, we experience tremendous abundance in our lives. He gives us our purpose and identity when our lives are aligned with Him.
Jesus says, "I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance " (John 10:10; AMP).
When Jesus is the one "calling the plays" and designing our “offense,” we can trust that we will thrive in His system and succeed when we follow His game plan.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP) encourages us to "Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth ."
When we give Jesus control and rely on His guidance and direction, we will encounter tremendous transformation. It’s like LSU changing from a floundering offense to a high-powered one because He knows how to get the very best out of us. We are high-powered as He works in us and through us.
Today, let's thank God for the life He's designed for us and the abundance we have in Him, and let's receive this benediction found in Hebrews 13:20-21 (NLT):
"Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with His blood—may He equip you with all you need for doing His will.
"May He produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to Him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen."

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I give You my life and give up my control because I trust that Your way is the best way. I know You equip me to do Your will and I believe true abundance is found in Jesus. I pray I would follow Your design for my life. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
