"Whatever He Calls, I'm Running It"

The Buffalo Bills won their first playoff game in 25 years last weekend when they beat the Colts during Wildcard Weekend. Their next opponent will be the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night.

This special Bills team has seen their young quarterback, Josh Allen, emerge as one of the top players at his position, while their star wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, has had a monster first year in Buffalo.

These two players, as well as the entire offense, have helped the Bills rank second in scoring (31.3), second in yards per game (396.4), and third in passing yards per game (288.8) this season.

A key reason that has contributed to the offense taking such a huge step forward is offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll. He won five Super Bowls as an assistant coach with New England and a National Championship with Alabama as an offensive coordinator.

Although he joined the Bills in 2018, it took a couple of years to add the right weapons for the offense to finally click. Now, they're rolling!

The strong relationships he has with his players is clear and as ESPN.com writer, Marcel Louis-Jacques puts it: “...Daboll loves his players for the people they are, and that love is palpable."

It appears the players feel the same way about him, as well. Even newcomer, Stefon Diggs, is already willing to say this about his offensive coordinator:

"He's a guy that knows what he's doing, he knows the flow of the game, knows when to call what. We just trust him, whatever he calls, I'm running it...he always has our back and I ain't seen him miss yet."

In recognizing this positive endorsement and the confidence and faith Diggs has in the team’s play-caller, how many of us today would be willing to say something as bold when describing the most important and reliable “play-caller” in our lives?

Psalm 56:3-4 (ESV) says, "When I am afraid, I put my trust in You. In God, whose Word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?”

Can we joyfully declare these words when describing our relationship with God?

Do we believe God “knows what He’s doing” and “knows when to call what”?

Each day, do we surrender and obey what He calls us to do because we “just trust Him, whatever He calls, I’m running it”?

Do we echo Psalm 31:14 (ESV): “But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, 'You are my God'”?

Do we believe that God “always has our back” and realize He’s always faithful, good, and perfect?

Psalm 9:10 (AMP) reminds us, “And those who know Your name will put their confident trust in You, for You, O Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You.”

Brian Daboll loves his players and knows the best plays to call for them to thrive. As Diggs put it, “I ain't seen him miss yet."

Today, as we follow Jesus, let's remember that God loves us and knows the best “plays” to call. We can trust Him with immense confidence because “I ain't seen Him miss yet."
