  1. Go For It!

I love the idea of NFL teams going for two points instead of kicking an extra point after touchdowns, but in the past, a team making that choice anytime other than at the end of the game has been rare. However, there are a few players and coaches who are open to the idea of actually trying for a 2-point conversion after all touchdowns for this upcoming season. Saints QB, Drew Brees, says that he is all for it, and Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger commented, “I think we should go for…

  2. What Everybody Thinks

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Jarvis Jones out of Georgia with the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, but he has yet to live up to expectations. Steelers’ linebackers coach and former player, Joey Porter, recently raised some concerns about Jones focusing too much attention on what others say about him: “…he takes the challenge of what everybody thinks more than I think he should. I’m glad I didn’t play in this era. I didn’t come up in the social media era. I don’t have none of that stuff…

  3. Respect or Fear?

The Warriors and Cavs are developing a very compelling rivalry while playing against each other in back to back Finals. Throughout the series, words have been exchanged on and off the floor and play has gotten heated thanks to some hard fouls (called and not-called). The Warriors have made some negative comments about LeBron to the media, and have also called him mean names on the court. They have shown little regard for LeBron being one of the best, if not the best, players in the world. When recently listening to Reggie Miller…

  4.  “I Don’t Want to Drive Slow”

Joey Logano is one of the top drivers in NASCAR. He won a series-high six races in 2015, the Sprint All-Star Race a few weeks ago, and his first points-race (the FireKeepers 400) over the weekend. NASCAR has implemented a rules package for certain races this year, with the goal to decrease corner speeds to allow more passing, and so far Logano has thrived. Embracing this style of racing, Logano said, “You’re just right on that ragged edge, and that’s awesome. I don’t want to drive slow. That ain’t no fun….

  5. Counting the Cost

The NFL steals an array of headlines almost all year long, but lately, the stories have been about the long-term effects of playing this dangerous sport. Although the concussion epidemic has been well documented, football players suffer from many other injuries because of their years on the field. Former Buffalo Bills’ defensive star, Bruce Smith, is the latest player to admit his struggles. After ESPN’s Marcellus Wiley recently had dinner with Smith, he admitted, “…he knows that it came at a price…” Smith, like many others, has enjoyed many great…

  6. The Comparison Game

Before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, everyone was analyzing what needed to happen for the Cavs to get a win and make the series interesting. With LeBron James seen as one of the greatest players of all time, the conversations are centered on how he should lead his team to victory while also comparing him to other stars. Fans, media, and even Phil Jackson had discussions about the possibility of LeBron playing more of a style like Michael Jordan, considering his success in the Finals. But when listening to…

  7. Returning Home

Tonight the Cavs return to Cleveland down 2-0 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. So far, they have not played well and have been embarrassed by the Warriors’ impressive dominance. Winning on the road is hard, and Golden State has a tremendous home-court advantage with its boisterous crowd. However, with the Cavs going home to play in a more comfortable atmosphere, they are expected to perform much better…and there is hope for them to get a win. They’ve had tremendous success at home all season. I don’t travel much,…

  8. Coach Hypocrisy

We are still a couple of months away from college football officially starting, but there is some off-season drama taking place between two of the biggest coaching names in the game. Alabama’s, Nick Saban, and Michigan’s, Jim Harbaugh, are going back and forth in the media with their thoughts on “satellite camps” and the rules and benefits surrounding them. Each coach has a different perspective: Saban criticizes the camps and Harbaugh embraces them. According to ESPN.com, Nick Saban has never been a fan of satellite camps – characterizing them as “ridiculous” and…

  9. Curry Celebrates!

The Golden State Warriors have jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. What’s most surprising is that Steph Curry and Klay Thompson haven’t been the players leading the way. With the Warriors’ bench scoring 85 points in two games, many different guys are contributing to the team’s blowout wins.  Although Steph Curry has received plenty of praise and accolades for his incredible play all season long, he has been tremendously supportive and excited for his teammates’ time in the spotlight. In fact, last…

  10. Who to Root For

Before Game 1 of the NBA Finals began, everyone was making their predictions and picking who they were going to root for: the Cleveland Cavs or Golden State Warriors. I’ve been a sports fan for a long time, so when it comes to a Championship Series I’m a firm believer that you can’t remain neutral – you have to pick a team to pull for. When it comes to this series, I must admit I’m somewhat torn. I’d love to see LeBron win a championship for Cleveland and get some revenge…
