    We don’t often write about horse racing here at UNPACKIN’ it, but history was made at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky that just has to be unpacked today! Rich Strike won the 148th running of the Kentucky Derby as the biggest long shot out of the 20 horses in the race (80-to-1 odds).   2. Drama at the Derby

    Although I’m not a huge horse racing fan, the Kentucky Derby is always intriguing and this year I ended up hearing the exciting race on the radio. After it was announced that Maximum Security was the winner, I turned it off and went into the house for dinner. To my surprise (like many other casual fans), I found out later that the winning horse had been disqualified once the instant replay confirmed there was interference.     On Saturday night, history was made in the sport of horse racing as Justify became the 13th Triple Crown winner. Beating the field in the Belmont Stakes, Justify was ridden by jockey, Mike Smith, and trained by, Bob Baffert, who trained the last Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah. This unique sports feat requires victories at the Kentucky Derby, The Preakness, and The Belmont Stakes.
