  1. Narrow Focus

By Matt Osborne, Staff Writer Despite a 4-6 record, the 2023 Colorado Buffaloes have remained in the national spotlight throughout the season. Of course, the cause for the ongoing media attention has to do with the presence of head coach, Deion Sanders. In his first year in Boulder, Sanders has captivated many college football fans with his unique combination of possessing an old-school mentality when it comes to attitude…and having a new-school mentality when it comes to putting together a roster. Though the Buffaloes have had their fair share of…

  2. “I’m Not Going To Let Anything Steal My Joy”

By Matt Osborne, Staff Writer Few college football programs can match the resume the Clemson Tigers have put together over the past dozen seasons under head coach, Dabo Swinney. From 2011 to 2022, Clemson won at least ten games each season. The Tigers also added eight conference championships and two national titles during that time, which is an unprecedented run of success for the program. Things have proven to be a little bit more challenging for Swinney and the Tigers this season, however. Greatly attributed to turnover struggles on offense, Clemson currently…

  3. “A Cloud Of Cynicism And Doubt”

By Matt Osborne, Staff Writer Whether for positive or negative reasons, the University of Michigan seems to be a mainstay in college football headlines these days. On the positive side of things, the Wolverines are coming off of some very successful campaigns on the field, having won consecutive Big Ten Titles and making back-to-back College Football Playoff appearances. Additionally, Michigan has started off the 2023 season a perfect 7-0 and is currently ranked at No. 2 in the national polls, setting itself up in prime position to make another run at…

  4. Only Ten Players on Defense

The huge showdown between 6th-ranked Ohio State and 9th-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday night lived up to the hype as it came down to the closing seconds. It was a tight and relatively low-scoring game that had Notre Dame with the lead 14-10 late in the fourth quarter. Ohio State got the ball with about 1:30 left and needed to gain 65 yards to get into the end zone. On the final drive, Ohio State converted a key 4th and 7 and then shortly after with 15 seconds left in…

  5. A Test of Your Humility

By Matt Osborne, Staff Writer Could we be witnessing the end of a dynasty in college football? That’s the question many college football fans are asking after the Alabama Crimson Tide has disappointingly started the 2023 season. Of course, that disappointing start is all relative. After all, being ranked 13th in the national polls would hardly be considered a disappointment for the vast majority of FBS programs. For Alabama, however, this week marks the first time since the 2015 season that the team hasn’t been ranked inside of the top ten….

  6. The Opportunity to Fear

Sports provide many people with a tremendous amount of opportunities: to compete, to accomplish, to work together with others, to make money, and to experience winning. At the same time, sports give everyone involved the opportunity to fear. Coaches fear losing their jobs if they lose too many games. Coaches fear their strategies won’t work or their messages won’t be received by the players. College football coaches fear their players will transfer or their great assistants will leave for a head coaching job. Players fear being cut if they make too many mistakes. Players fear being traded or not getting a…

  7. Colorado and Deion Are Turning Heads

The Colorado Buffaloes led by Head Coach, Deion Sanders (“Coach Prime”), are the biggest story in college football after a 2-0 start! Sanders took over a team that was 1-11 last season but is quickly turning things around while also turning heads with wins already against TCU and Nebraska. Deion Sanders has always been a captivating personality and it’s fascinating to see his impact as a head coach. I’ve enjoyed watching this team so far and I’m officially a fan. Deion’s son, Shedeur, is lighting it up as the starting quarterback, and becoming…

  8. How Many Wins Will Please The Fans?

College football action begins this weekend with 13th-ranked Notre Dame taking on Navy and 6th-ranked USC playing San Jose State. As a new season begins, we as fans have high hopes for our favorite team and their performance level. Of all the sports, college football fans are especially passionate. That’s not surprising when acknowledging they play a big role in recruiting and coaches being fired, and also creating a home-field advantage and atmosphere that impact the perception of a program. (Many fans are boosters and contribute financially, as well, which increases their impact.) Because of this…

  9. Counting the Cost

By Staff Writer, Matt Osborne Conference realignment in college football has dominated the headlines over the past few weeks. Throughout the offseason, these teams, in particular, have announced their plans to leave their current conference homes: Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington are exiting the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, while the Big 12 is preparing to add Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, UCF, and Utah to help counteract the loss of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC. All of these changes don’t even factor in the numerous rumors floating around the sports…

  10. Georgia Dominates

Heading into the College Football Playoff Championship game, we all knew that Georgia, as the defending champions, had a great team. However, Georgia took it to another level and dominated TCU from start to finish in a way we rarely see on that kind of stage. They won 65-7 to become back-to-back National Champions and absolutely crushed TCU in every facet of the game. Georgia dominated early, becoming the first team in playoff history to score 17 points in the first quarter, and went into halftime 38-7. They scored points on…
