Denver Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning, will go down as one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history. He has already won a Super Bowl and has a chance to win another. His stats and records are legendary, and he’s respected by almost everyone who watches him.

What is also impressive about Manning, and makes him stand out, is his mind. He’s smart, wise and a true thinker about the game, which has allowed him to play at such a high level for so long.

As sports fans, we notice and credit the physically imposing athletes but can easily overlook the brilliance of players and their amazing minds. When thinking about the parallel of life and faith, we shouldn’t overlook how important our mind is when it comes to having a relationship with Jesus.

The Bible says in Mark12:30“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Using our mind is key to loving God and following Jesus. What are we thinking about? What is our mind being used for? Are we seeking wisdom? Are we meditating on His word? Are we using our minds to understand God and study his character? Today, let’s challenge ourselves to be mindful of filling our minds with what pleases and glorifies God.
